Tony Lê Nguyễn – Người đồng hành bằng nghệ thuật sống

Tony Lê Nguyễn, tên khai sinh là Lê Thiện Toàn, sinh năm 1968 tại miền Tây Nam Bộ, là một nghệ sĩ và nhà giáo dục có hơn 30 năm kinh nghiệm trong lĩnh vực sân khấu, điện ảnh và giáo dục cộng đồng tại Úc và Việt Nam. Bắt đầu sự nghiệp diễn xuất từ năm 1985 với nghệ danh Tony Lee, ông từng xuất hiện trong các tác phẩm điện ảnh và sân khấu nổi tiếng như Romper Stomper, Madama Butterfly, SeaChange… nhưng điều khiến ông trở nên khác biệt là cách ông chuyển hóa nghệ thuật thành một công cụ kết nối và giáo dục đầy nhân văn. Sau khi hoàn thành chương trình học tại RMIT và Victoria University, ông giảng dạy tại trường Caroline Chisholm College (Melbourne) suốt một thập kỷ, và từ năm 2013, ông trở lại Việt Nam để tiếp tục sứ mệnh mang nghệ thuật đến gần hơn với người trẻ.

Hiện ông giữ vai trò Phó Chủ tịch Bảo tàng Melbourne Living Museum of the West, Cố vấn phát triển chương trình tại GreenViet, và là người sáng lập The Drama Lab – trung tâm nghiên cứu và ứng dụng kịch trong giáo dục tại Việt Nam. Tại TASK, Tony là người đồng hành nghệ thuật – nơi ông mang tới một cách tiếp cận giáo dục sâu sắc thông qua kịch, nhạc kịch và nghệ thuật biểu diễn. Ông không chỉ truyền đạt kỹ thuật sân khấu, mà quan trọng hơn, giúp học sinh khám phá chính mình thông qua trải nghiệm cảm xúc, tình huống xung đột, và khả năng thể hiện suy nghĩ bằng hành động. Thông qua drama – một nhánh của nghệ thuật biểu diễn – học sinh không chỉ rèn luyện khả năng diễn đạt, mà còn học cách quan sát tâm lý con người, hiểu phản ứng cảm xúc, phát triển khả năng giải quyết vấn đề và tư duy sáng tạo trong những tình huống phức tạp của cuộc sống.

Khi tham gia lớp học cùng Tony, học sinh được tiếp cận với ý nghĩa thực sự của chữ “A” trong STEAM – The Arts không chỉ là vẽ, ca hát hay biểu diễn, mà là cách con người tư duy, cảm nhận và chuyển hóa trải nghiệm sống thành câu chuyện. Với lối tiếp cận nghệ thuật như một hành trình sống, ông tạo ra không gian nơi học sinh có thể thử – sai – cảm – hiểu – và tự tin bước ra thế giới với chính giọng nói và bản sắc của mình. Tony không đến để dạy các em trở thành nghệ sĩ, mà để trao cho các em một phương tiện sâu sắc giúp thấu hiểu chính mình và kết nối với thế giới – thông qua sự chân thành, sáng tạo và lòng trắc ẩn.

Tony Le Nguyen – A Companion in the Art of Living

Tony Le Nguyen, born Le Thien Toan in 1968 in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, is an artist and educator with over 30 years of experience in theater, film, and community-based education in both Australia and Vietnam. He began his acting career in 1985 under the stage name Tony Lee and appeared in renowned film and theater productions such as Romper Stomper, Madama Butterfly, and SeaChange. But what sets him apart is not just his performance record – it is his ability to transform art into a profound tool for connection and human-centered education.

After completing his studies at RMIT and Victoria University, Tony taught at Caroline Chisholm College (Melbourne) for a decade. Since 2013, he has returned to Vietnam to continue his mission of bringing art closer to young people, helping them find meaning, resilience, and self-expression through creative practices.

He currently serves as the Vice President of the Melbourne Living Museum of the West, a Program Development Advisor at GreenViet, and the founder of The Drama Lab – a center dedicated to researching and applying drama in education across Vietnam. At TASK, Tony is more than an artist-in-residence. He is a guide who brings a deeply reflective and empowering educational approach through drama, musical theater, and the performing arts.

Tony doesn’t simply teach students theatrical techniques. He invites them into meaningful experiences – exploring emotional truths, navigating inner conflict, and turning thought into purposeful action. Through drama – a branch of the performing arts – students develop not only expressive skills but also the ability to observe human psychology, understand emotional dynamics, and cultivate creative problem-solving in complex, real-life situations.

In Tony’s classes, students are introduced to the true meaning of the “A” in STEAM. The Arts are not merely about drawing, singing, or acting – but about how humans think, feel, and transform their lived experiences into story. Through his life-centered artistic approach, Tony creates a safe space where students can try, stumble, reflect, feel, and grow – walking out into the world with their own voice and identity.

He doesn’t come to train performers. He comes to give students a meaningful language to understand themselves and engage with the world – through sincerity, imagination, and compassion.
